About HBA Family Law Section
The Family Law Section of the Houston Bar Association strives to promote the goals of the HBA within the family law context. With a growing membership of approximately 500, our Section hosts monthly meetings from September through May to address the complexities encountered working on family law matters. Monthly luncheon meetings provide members the opportunity to network with other family law attorneys and the judiciary, while simultaneously earning CLE credit and learning about the latest issues affecting the family law bar and bench.
The Family Law Section Board and membership honor Houston families and children through HBA’s Saturday legal clinics, staffing knowledgeable family law attorneys to attend HBA’s monthly LegalLine, providing annual contributions to the Harvest Ball, Habitat for Humanity, as well as supporting local programs like “Dress for Success” and national programs like “Do the Write Thing.” The Family Law Section recently participated in the HBA-endorsed AIDS outreach Adopt-A-Family Program by providing holiday gifts and necessaries for families whose lives have been affected by AIDS or HIV.
The Family Law Section provides quality CLE programs for family law attorneys and provides monthly updates on the state of family law to membership at monthly luncheons. Among the oldest and most established of the HBA sections, the Family Law Section has long provided its members with the tools and knowledge required to deliver quality family law legal services to Houston and its surrounding communities.

If it should ultimately pass it will be the 507th Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas which will hear only family law by docket control order. The progress on this effort so far is due to the hard work of all of the family law judges of Harris County.
